3D renders and video for real estate agents

Render Works produces photorealistic 3D renders, cinematic video and campaign assets for real estate agents selling off-plan homes in New Zealand and Australia. Agents use them as listing images, signboards, brochures and social posts when there is nothing on site to photograph. Every image is built from the developer's plans and finishes, so buyers see what will be built.

What do agents need renders for on an off-plan listing?

An off-plan listing has no house to photograph, so renders do the job of listing photography, the open home and the signboard all at once. A typical campaign needs images for:

  • The lead image on property portals and the agency website
  • The listing gallery: the main living spaces, kitchen, bedrooms and bathroom
  • Signboards and site hoardings, which need high resolution files
  • Brochures, price lists and information packs
  • Social media posts, stories and paid ads, often in portrait
  • Launch events and sales presentations, where video carries the room

Why does listing quality matter in the current NZ property market?

Buyers have more stock to choose from, and fewer homes are selling. REINZ reported national inventory of 36,130 properties in May 2026, up 5.0 percent on May 2025, while sales fell 12.6 percent to 6,523 (REINZ, June 2026).

An off-plan listing sits on the same portal page as finished homes buyers can walk through. Photorealistic renders matched to the real finishes give it a fair comparison.

Which renders and video suit each part of a campaign?

Different channels need different images. This table maps the common assets to where agents use them.

Why must off-plan renders match the specification?

Buyers compare the finished home with the image that sold it, so a render that flatters the finish creates a problem at handover. That is why we build renders from the developer's real selections.

For Tussock Lane in Queenstown, every finish came from the specification schedule, down to darker grey carpet in the bedrooms and lighter grey tiles in the bathrooms. For Soleil, JPMH Properties supplied their actual selections and the renders were matched to them, including the recycled-brick driveway with the bricks laid sideways.

What should agents ask the developer to supply?

Most of what a render needs sits with the developer or the architect, so connect us with them early. The list:

  • Plans and elevations, and the 3D model if the architect has one
  • The finishes and specification schedule
  • The landscape plan and any lighting plan
  • Site or drone photographs, if you want an aerial photomontage
  • The brand, logo and campaign name for print and social assets
  • The formats the campaign needs: portal images, signboard sizes, portrait social

The full checklist is in our guide to what to provide for a 3D render project.

How does the collaboration work between the agent, the developer and Render Works?

The developer signs off accuracy and the agent shapes the campaign. We work to both in the same review process.

  1. Step 01

    Agree the view list

We map the views to the campaign channels. For Ludlow Terrace the developer suggested ten views and asked us to choose the strongest angles.
  2. Step 02

    Draft review

Drafts go into our online review tool, where the developer and agent comment directly on each image.
  3. Step 03

    Finals in every format

Web, print and portrait versions, plus with-people and without-people versions of interiors where the campaign needs both.
  4. Step 04

    Video and print

Cinematic video, social clips, brochures and signboards are cut from the same render set, so every channel matches.

What affects the cost of renders and video for a listing?

The cost of a campaign set depends on how many assets it needs. The main factors are:

  • The number of exterior and interior views
  • Whether the developer can supply a 3D model
  • Extra versions, such as with and without people or portrait crops
  • Aerials and photomontages over drone photography
  • Video length and the number of social clips
  • Print and campaign assets on top of the renders

Frequently asked questions

Can 3D renders be used as listing images?

Yes. We supply web sizes for listings and social posts, plus high resolution files for signboards and print. A campaign usually leads with a hero exterior and follows with the main interiors.

Why supply interior renders with and without people?

It turns one render into two assets. For Bay Living's View Road development, the version with people suited listings and lifestyle marketing, and the version without people suited signage and spec sheets. The lighting, finishes and camera stay identical across the pair.

Can you make video for social media?

Yes. Ludlow Terrace had a cinematic film plus short clips cut for social media, and Soleil in Redhead, NSW had a build-up video that assembles the home on screen before following a car through the gate and surfers walking back from the beach.

Who approves the renders, the agent or the developer?

On most off-plan projects the developer approves the final set, because the renders have to match what will be built. Agents can review and comment on drafts in the same online tool, so the images suit the campaign too.

Can Render Works make brochures and signboards as well?

Yes. Our marketing assets service cuts the render set into brochures, signboards and social posts, so the print and digital campaign use the same images.

How much do renders for an off-plan listing cost?

The price depends on the number of views, whether the developer has a 3D model, and whether you add aerials or video. Our NZ render cost guide lists price ranges, and an enquiry gets you a quote.
