Who we work with
3D renders and websites for builders in New Zealand
Render Works makes photorealistic 3D renders, cinematic video and bespoke websites for residential builders and group home companies in New Zealand. Builders use renders to sell homes before they are built, and a brand website to show the quality of finished work. We built Wrightson Construction's website and produced launch campaigns for builders including RAM Projects.
What do builders need renders and websites for?
Builders usually have two marketing jobs: selling homes that are not built yet, and proving the quality of homes that are. Renders handle the first. A website handles the second.
- Selling spec homes and townhouses. Lemon Street, by New Plymouth builder Cole Wenmoth, was marketed from renders, drone imagery and a cinematic walkthrough while the homes were still off-plan.
- Launching a development. RAM Projects had eight renders, a video and branded assets for Rocks on Holloway before it went to market, then came back to us for Molyneux.
- Selling a whole community. For The Horsham Residences, Pragma Homes' 111-home community in Hamilton, the renders set the look for the brand identity and the project website.
- Showing finished work. Wrightson Construction's website lets large project photography lead every page, so the craft in its heritage restorations and new builds is visible online.
How many new homes are builders competing to sell?
Plenty. Stats NZ counted 40,581 new homes consented in the year ended June 2026, up 19 percent on the year before, made up of 18,627 stand-alone houses and 21,954 multi-unit homes (Stats NZ, 2026).
Many of those homes go on the market before anyone can photograph them. Renders matched to the real specification are how a builder's homes look like themselves in a listing, rather than like every other new build on the same portal page.
Which deliverables fit a residential builder?
Most builders need a mix. This table shows what each deliverable is for, with a project that used it.
| Deliverable | Best for | Project example |
|---|---|---|
| Exterior renders | Spec homes, townhouse rows, signboards and listings | Lemon Street |
| Interior renders matched to the specification | Showing the finish level without a show home | Princes Street |
| Aerial and drone imagery | Placing a development in its setting | Rocks on Holloway |
| Cinematic walkthrough video | Social media, websites and launch events | Lemon Street video |
| Brand identity and campaign assets | A named development or community | The Horsham Residences |
| Bespoke brand website | Showing completed projects and credentials | Wrightson Construction |
What makes a good website for a builder?
A builder is judged on craft and finish, so a builder's website should get out of the way of the photography. The Wrightson Construction site was designed around that idea. Use this as a checklist for your own:
- Large project photography that leads each page instead of stock images
- A page for each completed project, with the suburb and the type of work
- Credentials such as NZCB membership and Licensed Building Practitioner status where clients will see them
- The full range of work, for example new builds, renovations and heritage restoration
- Layouts that hold up on mobile as well as desktop, with a clear route to enquire

What should a builder supply for renders?
Send whatever your designer has produced, plus the specification you are pricing from. Renders built from the real schedule show buyers the home they will actually get.
- Working drawings or consent plans as PDF or DWG
- A 3D model from your designer, if one exists
- The specification and colour schedule: cladding, roofing, joinery, benchtops, flooring
- Kitchen designer drawings and the landscaping plan, if you have them
- Site photographs or drone photos for context
- The views you want to sell with, for example street, rear garden, kitchen and main bedroom
The full list is in our guide to what to provide for a 3D render project.
How does working with Render Works go for a builder?
Render projects run on draft and review rounds, and website projects are designed around your photography and brand.
- Step 01
Brief and files
You send the plans and specification, and we agree the list of views and what each one needs to sell. - Step 02
Drafts and markup
We send draft renders, and you comment directly on each image in our online review tool. - Step 03
Finals and extras
You get high resolution renders for print and web. Video, drone imagery and branded assets are scoped alongside the stills so they share one look. - Step 04
Repeat projects
When RAM Projects came back for Molyneux, the checklist, sign-off process and campaign look were already established, so the brief could go straight to the new site.
What affects the cost of renders and a website for a builder?
Render cost depends mostly on the number of images and how much has to be modelled. The main factors are:
- The number of exterior and interior views
- Whether a 3D model exists or we build one from plans
- How many house types or typologies need their own renders
- Aerials, drone photomontages and video on top of the stills
- For websites, the number of pages and project case studies

Frequently asked questions
Can you render a spec home before it is built?
Yes. For Lemon Street in New Plymouth, builder Cole Wenmoth had exterior and interior renders, drone imagery and a cinematic walkthrough ready before the sales campaign, with every render built to the real specification.
Do you build websites for builders?
Yes. We built the bespoke brand website for Wrightson Construction, a high-end residential builder in Freemans Bay, Auckland. It uses editorial, image-led layouts so the project photography leads, and presents credentials like NZCB membership and Licensed Building Practitioner status where clients will see them.
Will the renders match my actual specification?
They are built from your specification and colour schedule. The Lemon Street renders show the white front doors, exposed-aggregate driveway and natural timber retaining that the homes will have, and the Rogers Street set follows its schedule down to the Colorsteel FlaxPod roof and Bavarian Oak kitchen joinery.
Can one studio do renders, video, branding and a website?
Yes. For RAM Projects' Rocks on Holloway we produced eight renders, a cinematic video and branded campaign assets. For Pragma Homes' Horsham Residences we produced the renders, the brand identity and the project website, all built from one render set so they match.
Do I need a 3D model to get renders?
No. We can build the model from PDF or DWG plans. If your designer has a SketchUp, Revit or Archicad model, send it, because it saves modelling work.
How much do renders and a website cost for a builder?
Render pricing depends on the number of views, whether a model exists and how much styling is needed. Our NZ render cost guide lists price ranges. Websites are quoted per project, based on the pages and content you need.
